We are Terry & Cathye Kinkelaar. If you've followed my blog in the past, you know that Lydia, my beautiful wife of 52 years, and I made the lifestyle choice to move to Oregon in 2017. You've seen my posts about losing her in May 2020 to cancer. Although I was left alone, I am pleased to say that I have found happiness again. In April 2021, I met Cathye, who also lost her longtime husband in 2020. Well, we fell in love and were married in April 2022. So, if folks are still interested, I will continue to post here as we move forward with our lives and adventures!

2016 Trip -20) Castaic, CA to Santa Paula, CA

Tues. 8/2…  (Castaic, CA)  Today was prep day for our campout.  We went through the fridge and cabinets and cleaned out any old stuff.  Then we headed to Walmart to get stuff for tonight and for the weekend. I stopped and had the car washed so we are good to go.

Lydia fixed burritos for us all for dinner. We talked with Jeff about how the house is coming.  He says it’s mostly done.  My sister is having cleaners come today so we’re happy about that.  Looks like we’ll have a new room to enjoy when we get home this Sunday!

Later, we hit the pool and relaxed in the spa as well.  Tomorrow we leave for our last stop.

Wed. 8/3…  (Santa Paula, CA) Since we changed our park, this morning’s drive was only 38 miles! We didn’t even hook up the tow car.  The car needed gas anyway so Lydia stopped on the way for a fill up.  We are now at Ventura Ranch KOA (tl$57.), in Santa Paula, CA.  This is our camping club’s normal outing weekend so we planned our trip to start and end with these campouts.  We thought only Ed & Betty were the only others to arrive today. Gary & GG were already here when we arrived!  Guess we missed them on the Wednesday arrivals. The rest come in on Thursday and Friday.  This turns out to be one of the few parks we visited during this trip that does not have sewers.  But it has 50 amp to runs our systems. So we are good on power but will have to watch our water usage for four days.  But it’s cooler now and we will be outside more than inside plus they have a dump station which we will use on the way out on Sunday so no worries. Also we set up the large canopy so we would have shade for our group.

We had called Betty and we are all having dinner together tonight. But before we ate, we spent some time getting Ed’s satellite dish up and working.  He has HD now but needs some more pieces to get it set up.  The girls went to town earlier and brought back KFC for dinner. Afterward, I walked Bailey and Lydia crashed for the night.

Thur. 8/4… (Santa Paula, CA)   This morning we slept in and then caught up on America’s Got Talent the results from last night.  We met up with the others under the canopy and spent the day watching the rest of the group come in. Myers, Kenney, Jones, and Spaulding came in today.  Two more tomorrow.  We brought out tuna sandwiches and chips and had a nice lunch.  We decided to go to dinner in town (Santa Paula) tonight.  We went to La Cabaña since we had a 10% off coupon in our campground handouts.  The food was really good but the service was not.  We returned and walked Bailey a while then sat out until the weather got cooler and most drifted off to their rigs for the night.  We watched tv for a while and turned in.
